INTRODUCTION
The City of Oswego adopted its first comprehensive plan, City of Oswego 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan, in August 2003. As the goals and objectives of the City have evolved over the last seven years, the City recognized the time was right to revisit the comprehensive plan and identify areas that may need to be modified or updated based on feedback and input from citizens, stakeholders, and officials.
Many goals identified in the 2003 plan have been realized, while other projects have yet to be started. While some of the goals, projects and actions are still relevant today, others may no longer be consistent with the future direction the City aspires to move in.
In order to update the 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan the City has hired the team of Bergmann Associates and Steinmetz Planning Group to facilitate a planning process that will engage and involve citizens in redefining their vision for the future of Oswego.
The project website is one avenue that will be utilized throughout the planning process to share information and gather feedback from the community. The site will be updated on a regular basis so please check back often.
Thank you for your interest in learning more about this important planning process. We look forward to your involvement as we seek to update our 2020 Vision!
PLANNING PROCESS
The official project kick-off began in May 2010 with a series of meetings and workshops with community members and project partners.
The City anticipates that the 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan Update will be completed by the end of 2010.
A steering committee has been identified to work with the consultant team and the community. Their role will be to provide insights and feedback, and facilitate outreach with members of the Oswego community. For information on the membership of the Steering Committee, please contact Mary Vanouse, Director of Community Development at 315-343-3795.
